On the day Lord Mayor's Mile

Some of the best young runners in London will be taking part in a one mile race around a loop from Mansion House to St Pauls ahead of the procession in the 2009 Lord Mayor’s Show.

Each London Borough – including the City and Westminster – is sending a team of 12 hand-picked runners. They will all be wearing distinctive coloured t-shirts with the name of their Borough on the front, and the race route will take them down the packed streets ahead of the Lord Mayor’s procession, so make sure you’re there in time to cheer on your home team!

The boys and girls are each split into three age groups, making six races altogether. The order will be:

  • Boys 15 – 17yrs (Yellow T-shirts)
  • Boys 13 – 14yrs (Black T- shirts)
  • Boys 11 – 12yrs (Green T-shirts)
  • Girls 15 – 17yrs (Blue T-shirts)
  • Girls 13 – 14yrs (White T-shirts)
  • Girls 11 – 12yrs (Red T- shirts)

The first race will be started at 10.53 precisely by the Lord Mayor Elect, Nick Anstee, who is himself a very keen runner and has completed several London Marathons.

Briefly:

The 2010 Lord Mayor's Show will be on Saturday 13 November. The procession lasts from 11am to about 2.30pm and fills the whole area between Bank and Aldwych. There are guided walks at 3 and the day ends with fireworks at 5 over the Thames.
