The Coach rehearsal at Guildhall, very early in the morning a few days before the Show

This page brings together all the press releases published by the City and any other information useful to people covering the 2011 Lord Mayor’s Show.

The busiest times here are towards the end of September, when the incoming Lord Mayor is elected, and in the fortnight before the Show when last minute details are released, but we also publish useful background information and feature material in the intervening weeks.

Press accreditation

24 October 2012 There will be two main press points at the Lord Mayor's Show: at Mansion House to cover the crowds and the procession, and at St Paul's to cover the blessing ceremony. To gain access, photographers and TV crews must apply for accreditation by Wednesday 7 November. Priority will be given to national and London based media.

There is also an accreditation scheme for press covering the Lord Mayor's Banquet, which this year includes speeches from the Prime Minister and the Archbishop of Canterbury as well as the new and late Lord Mayors.

Media opportunities

There are several photographic and interview opportunities in and around the Lord Mayor’s Show, including the dawn coach rehearsal. Details will be published here as soon as times and dates are set.

Press Releases

All the press releases put out by the City of London Press Office will appear here immediately, along with any others that seem useful.

The new Lord Mayor

The 685th Lord Mayor of London has been elected: he is Alderman Roger Gifford. He takes office on 9 November in the Silent Ceremony, then on the morning of November 10th he will leave the City of London and travel to the Royal Courts of Justice to swear loyalty to the Crown.

The Flotilla

After a trial run last year, the Lord Mayor is taking to the river for the first time in 156 years. The flotilla, include the traditional ceremonial barge Gloriana, will set off from Vauxhall at 8.30 and take about an hour to reach the City.
